Group Hails FG Over Power Handover
The Federal
Government has continued to receive commendations from members of the public after it handed licence to the private sector to distribute and sell electricity in the country on October 1, 2013.
The latest of such commendations came from the Maritime Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MANPON) in Port Harcourt, recently.
In a statement signed by its secretary, Mr Golden Ontema and made available to newsmen, MAMPON, commended the Federal Government to have successfully handed over the power sector to private companies.
It also urged the government to honour all agreements reached for a complete unbundling of the sector to private power companies owners.
The body called on the Federal Government to remain forthright and resolute to enable Nigerians benefit from the system.
They further noted that a steady interaction with newsmen, its stakeholders and shareholders would prevent the incident of subjecting Nigerians to too much payment without any significant services.
It also appealed to the public to fight any attempt to sabotage government’s efforts in its determination to add colour to the power sector.
The statement which demanded the best practice as it relates to power business, warned against any kind of sharp practice that would not allow Nigerians benefit maximally from the handover initiatives, even as it called for all hands to be on deck for its smooth operation.
