Firm Assures Community Of Steady Power Supply

Residents in Ije-Ododo
in Ojo Local Government Area in Lagos State have been assured of steady power supply after six months of power outage.in the community.
Mr Gbenga Asha, the Senior Manager, Distribution, Ikotun Business Unit of PHCN, gave the assurance in an interview with newsmen in Lagos recently
The Tide reports that the community has been without electricity supply since June 1 following the destruction of PHCN installations by pipeline vandals.
He said that the delay in restoring power supply was due to the collapse of some electricity poles earlier replaced.
Asha also attributed the delay in early completion of the work to the swampy nature of the area and the rains.
He urged residents of the area to always report vandalism of installations to the district office for quick intervention.
Some residents told newsmen that the absence of power in the area for six months had paralysed business activities in the area.
Chief Tajudeen Ododo, the Head of Ije-Ododo Community, said that socio-economic activities in the community had been affected, adding that many artisans had taken to commercial motorcycle riding.
“Things have not been the same because hoodlums are taking advantage of the outage to rob residents of their hard earned properties,” he said.
Mr Idowu Taofeek, the Chairman, Ije-Ododo Community Development Association, also urged PHCN to complete the job on time.
Taofeek said that lack of electricity supply had brought untold hardship to the residents.
“For the past six months, the whole community has been in darkness.
“We are aware of the work the officers are doing, but we want them to fulfil their promise of restoring power to our earea,” he said.
