Expert Prescribes ICT To Check Examination Failure

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) has been described as the best solution to curb the high rate of failure among secondary school students in the country.

The Chief Operation Officer, Mobile Knowledge Solution Limited, Mr Ibrahim Yusup, said this while briefing newsmen in Lagos, recently.

He was of the view that ICT had the best teaching system that could remould the minds of the students.

Yusup, who presented a device on Personal Education Tablet for Secondary Schools, (PETSS), said that it had the ability to reduce the high rate of failure among secondary students up to 30 per cent within two years.

According to him, ICT stands better chance to address all challenges faced by the education sector, even the issue of lack of quality teachers.

The Tide gathered that the PETSS was formed  to teach students through ICT, because the device was preloaded with text books.

He also noted that the tablet had video and audio training classrooms for students as well as curriculum on 15 subjects and other external examinations.

According to him, the ICT tool (PETSS) has some past questions of senior school certificate examinations and had learning and teaching aids for students in higher institutions.

He further informed that the device had received the nod of the Nigerian Education Research Development Council and that of the Federal Ministry of Education.
