Ebonyi HOS Assures On Civil Service Reforms

The  Head of Service in
Ebonyi State, Ugochi Nnachi last Wednesday in Abakaliki said the current reforms in the public service of the state were aimed at boosting staff productivity.
Nnachi made this known to newsmen after a tour of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the state government in Abakaliki.
According to her, the tour was designed to assess the level of implementation of the various reform programmes in the public service as well as identify areas of lapses for improvement.
“There is an ongoing reform in our public and civil service geared toward making the public comply with international best practises.
“We embarked on the assessment tour to our (MDAs) to have an on-the-spot assessment of impact of our various reform programmes so far carried out in our public and civil service.
“The exercise has afforded us opportunity for appraisal and reappraisal of what we have done and how far we have succeeded in our efforts to transform the system for improved service delivery.
“The philosophy behind the reform agenda in our public and civil service is to transform the system and engender improved service delivery,’’ Nnachi said.
She said no fewer than 6,000 staff had received training in information communication technology (ICT), and that promotion and retraining of the workers had been given greater priority.
The Head of Service said current reform efforts by government had made the state service one of the best in the country.
“Our reform agenda has made our civil and public service among the best state in the federation, thanks to the reform agenda.
“It is on record that no fewer than 6,000 of our workforce has gained knowledge of the ICT and this has actually revolutionised our approach to work and simplified public administration,’’ she said.
She assured of government commitment in providing conducive working environment for workers and to ensure that welfare of staff received deserved attention.
The Head of Service visited 15 ministries and 28 departments and agencies.
