Community Leaders Want RSG To Upgrade Choba Market

A community leader in Akpor kingdom, Mr Edwin Amadi, has enjoined the state government to upgrade the Choba Market in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Amadi who said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt believed that this step would boost economic activities in the area.
The leader noted that the area needs a well developed market to serve the University of Port Harcourt and environs due to the position of the market.
He also said that Choba was the commercial hub of the local government because of the location of the federal university and the teaching hospital.
An indigene of the community, Uche Wokoma stated the need for government to develop the market, adding that this will attract international businessmen to the community.
He called on the government to build upgraded slaughter and an warehouses for preservation of goods.
Wokoma wondered why the market has been neglected over the years by successive governments, adding that there is a serious need for government attention in the market.
In his contribution, Mr Stanley Wobodo said that the strategic position of the market has made the upgrade a necessity, adding that there is also the need for government to dredge the Choba River to boost maritime transportation and business in the community.
