CHAN: Keshi Decries Lack Of Friendlies For Eagles

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi has rued the lack of a high profile friendly match for the Super Eagles as they prepare for next year’s African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The Super Eagles coach said that such match would have aided his team’s preparations, but noted that it may be impossible to schedule such a game as a result of time constraints.

The Super Eagles have thus resorted to sparring with local club sides ahead of the Chan tourney.

After beating Prisons FC of Abuja 4-1 in their first test match last weekend, the Eagles are billed to play another test match with another NNL side, Niger Tornadoes, today at the main bowl of the Abuja National Stadium.

A third test match is also scheduled to take place at the same venue against Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Saturday.

The Super Eagles coach also revealed that Monday’s second training session was cancelled after it appeared that the three hours morning training session may have taken its toll on the players.

“We have to be cautious not to push the players too hard so that nobody will break down”, Keshi said.
