The Nigerian Senate has
been urged to prevail on oil companies operating in the country on the need to operate according to the international guideline of oil operation.
A private oil dealer in the state, Mr Stanly Aja Amadi, said this in an interview with The Tide last Friday in Port Harcourt.
He said that part of the robust operation opportunities enjoyed by oil companies in the country was due to the senate soft handedness on them.
Amadi noted that if the Senate and the House of Representatives sit up and monitor the activities of oil companies in the country, it would yield 100 per cent benefit for Nigerians.
He wondered how Nigeria, especially the Niger Delta region could still complain of joblessness in the midst of too many oil activities, adding that they are playing games with the country.
According to him, if some oil giants like Shell and Chevron operate within the ambit of international policy as regards oil operations the era of economic hardship would be a thing of the past.
The oil magnate imagined if some lawmakers in the country are in the pay roll of the oil companies as they are always mute over the plight of oil communities in the country.
The business tycoon, regretted that most Nigerians who studies oil and gas engineering are yet to be absorbed by the oil companies, while calling for the automatic employment of those with degrees in any oil related field.
On the issue of the Rivers oil wells allegedly ceded to neighbouring state by the federal government, he called on Governor Amaechi to take the matter to the international court of justice to prevent the federal government from further actions.
Describing the oil wells as a gift from God, he warned against its forceful take-over, saying that such moves could lead to lawlessness.
