‘APC ’ll Sweep ELGA Polls’
The Chairman of Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, Barr Reginald Ukwuoma says the All Progressives Congress (APC), would sweep the local government elections in the area following the defection of thousands of former supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in the area last Monday.
Ukwuoma stated this in an interview with The Tide last Monday, shortly after the official declaration of the people of the area for the APC in Okehi.
He averred that the acceptance of the APC in the area underscored the total support of the people for Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi –led administration in the state.
According to him, the state governor had placed the local government area on the high economic scale that no past administration in the state had done for the people, saying that it would amount to sheer ingratitude for the people of the area not to support him (Amaechi).
“Etche Local Government Area has not seen the level of development strides under Governor Amaechi in the political history of the state. We are today well coordinated with good roads, from Ozuzu and Mba clans, constant electricity, modern health centres, primary and secondary schools, among others” he stated.
He described the APC as a harbinger of hope that would usher in the desired developmental changes to the people and promote equity, fairness and justice to all.
He debunked insinuations that members of Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) disrupted the declaration ceremony at Okehi, adding that such misinformation was the handiwork of those who have lost the confidence of the people in the area.
