Agency Spends N200m To Rehabilitate 49 Roads
The Edo State Rapid Response Agency (RRA) spent N200 million on rehabilitation of 49 roads in the state this year, its Managing Director, Mr Mujaidu Dako, has said.
Dako, who made the disclosure in an interview with newsmen in Benin, said the RRA was committed to ensuring motorable roads in the state.
He said “ours is purely an interventionist agency; we are not building new roads. We are merely to work on feeder roads in the state capital and other parts of the state.
“This year, we utilised the fund released to us in rehabilitating 49 roads. In all, we spent a total of N200 million.’’
The agency boss added that efforts to ensure motorable roads in the state was yielding positive results, but that it had constraints of funds to achieve more results.
He attributed the paucity of funds to the reduction in revenue accruing to the state from the federation account.
The managing director, however, expressed optimism that the agency would rehabilitate more roads in the state in 2014.
