Diocese Celebrates Archbishop Kattey
The Archdeacon in charge of Eleme Archdeaconry, Diocese of the Niger Delta North, (DNDN) Venerable Israel Omosioni has described the kidnap and release of the Dean, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Archbishop, Province of Niger Delta and Bishop, Diocese of Niger Delta North, Most Rev’d Ignatius Kattey (JP) and his wife, Mrs Beatrice Kattey (JP) as a paradox of the anointing.
In a sermon at the reception and thanksgiving service in honour of Most Rev’d Kattey penultimate Sunday at Holy Trinity (Anglican) Church, Nchia – Eleme, Ven Omosioni likened the Dean’s ordeal to some Biblical personalities like Samson, Elijah and Peter.
He opined that when God wants to give His servants a breakthrough it will be like a storm.
Ven Omosioni who is the Diocesan Chairman for Missions and Evangelism Committee (MEC) said at God’s appropriate time the gates were opened and the grave which the enemy dug will consume them.
Venerable Omosioni challenged the people of Eleme to organise a reception for the man of God on his elevation to the office of Dean, Anglican Communion and his release by his abductors.
Responding, the son of Most Rev’d Kattey, Dr Kattey Amos Kattey thanked all for the prayers and assistance to his father.
Speaking in the same vein, the outgoing Vicar of Jerusalem (Anglican) Church, Diobu, Port Harcourt Rev’d R. N. Foko described the kidnap and release of Most Rev’d Kattey by his kidnappers as divine work of God to shame the agents of darkness.
Rev’d Foko who is also Chaplain II to the Most Rev’d Kattey wondered what would have been the fate of the faithful if the dean had died in the hands of his abductors and urged his congregation to give thanks to God for his grace.
Archbishop Kattey was abducted at Aleto, Eleme on September 6, 2013 and released after 9 days by his abductors.
Addressing a world press conference at Eleme three days after his release, Most Rev’d Kattey said his release was divine. He then forgave and prayed for his abductors.
The thanksgiving service was held in all the churches in the Diocese of the Niger Delta North.
