‘World Cup Qualification, My Special Moment’
Victor Moses says
qualifying for the 2014 World Cup would be a special moment in his career.
Moses, 22, emigrated to Britain as an 11-year-old after his parents were murdered and is on the verge of qualifying for the World Cup with the rest of the Nigeria squad after turning down the opportunity to represent England.
He told Tidesports it would be a dream come true. “Qualification will be special for me,” he said.
Then added with a hint of the humility that marks his team ethos.
“And for the other lads as well.
“It is every kid’s dream to play at the World Cup and playing there would be a massive boost for me and the rest of the team.”
Although the Super Eagles lead 2-1 from the first leg, Moses says there are still 90 minutes to go before that dream becomes reality, and the team will have to earn their place the hard way,
“They are a very good team, they can play and score goals. But at the moment, we just want to concentrate on ourselves and work hard.
“We beat them 2-1 but we know how difficult that was. We are back home now and we just want to get a win for the nation and qualify for the World Cup.
“We are looking forward to the game, we know it’s not going to be an easy game for us, but all the lads are in now and we are looking forward to it.”
On Wednesday, all of the squad trained for the first time, and Moses was pleased with the session.
“Everybody is looking sharp and we just want to keep the momentum going, keep it strong as a team, do our best and win the game on Saturday,” he added.
