Sokoto Assures Of Adequate Compensation To Property Owners

The Commissioner for Education in Sokoto State, Mohammed Dingyadi has assured that adequate compensation would be paid to owners of property that may be affected in the construction of new model primary schools in Sokoto City and its environs.

He said that the compensation would be paid to property owners, as soon as possible, as the properties are being assessed, adding that the project was to further decongest the existing primary schools in Sokoto metropolis and its environs.

According to him, “Each of the schools will be in the form of a storey building, comprising several blocks of 24 classrooms, and each school will have a library, canteen, offices, hostels and staff quarters, among others”.

Dingyadi while speaking to Journalists on the projects of the ministry, last Friday in Sokoto, explained that the sum of N1.95 billion would be spent on the construction of three new model primary schools.

Each of the three new primary schools according to him, would cost N649 million, including the cost of furniture.

He said the schools would be located at the old Kara Market on Dalhatu Road and On Emir Yahaya road, all within the metropolis.

Dingyadi also posited that N295 million would be spent under the primary and junior secondary schools renovation project.

According to him, N51.2 million was to be spent on additional renovation and expansion of 73 primary schools in the 23 local governments, while N567 million will be for the renovation of 128 blocks.
