Priest Charges Nigerians On Honesty, Responsibility
An Anglican priest,
Ven. Ugochukwu Ekeada, has admonished Nigerians to be honest and responsible in their daily lives.
Ekeada gave the charge during the opening of church service of the Third Session of the Sixth Synod of the Diocese of Egbu, Anglican Communion.
The service was held at St. John’s Church, Ihiagwa, Owerri-West Local Government Area, in Imo State.
The priest said that social vices and crime were some of the various challenges facing the country currently.
“Corruption, oil bunkering, rape, incest, homosexuality, killings, blackmail are on the increase and God is watching like he did in the days of Noah,” he cautioned.
He said that only a man with the spirit of God that would be able to stand above all these vices and fight against them.
“Anyone who glorifies God in this society can make it. You can reject corruption and you all can succeed if you keep your hands upright,” he said.
Ekeada lamented the dearth of upright and honest men in the society.
The priest took his bible texts from the Book of Genesis and highlighted the story of Noah.
He examined the contract given to Noah by God to build an ark and said, “today a dishonest contractor will build an ark that will sink and endanger mankind.’’
“The government is not solely at fault for the decay of our infrastructure, we all are involved.
“There are stories of collapsed buildings daily, dangerous roads quack doctors and so many uncompleted projects and we, the citizens, are at fault.
“It is people like us that are responsible for these projects and we all need to be honest in situations like this for a better society,” Ekeada said.
