Onne Gets N15m Healthcare Facilities

Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has received various medical care facilities worth N15.4m from Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), as the company launched a free health care programme in furtherance of the company’s social responsibility.
Speaking last weekend, at the flagg-off of the campaign in Onne, the Community Assistance Development Programme of MPN, Manager, Public and Government Affairs, Adeyemi Fakayejo, said the campaign would provide health education, medication, screening for non-communicable diseases and also carry out minor surgeries, clinical consultation, and referrals for special cases and also deworm children.
Fakayejo who spoke on behalf of the General Manager, Public and Government Affairs, Paul Arinze, stated that the company believed in providing opportunities for the less privileged in the society and expressed hope that the free health care initiative would add value to the well being of the beneficiaries.
Fakayejo announced the donation of various medical equipment worth N5.8 million, to the Eleme General Hospital and noted that the total cost of the project was N15.4 million.
He called on the members of the community for their co-operation in ensuring the safety and judicious use of the equipment.
Giving tips on healthy life style, leader of the medical team and co-ordinator for Health, Mater Green Globe Foundation, facilitators of the free medical campaign, Dr. Chijioke Mbelu, advised on behavioural change to achieve good health.
He noted sadly that kidney diseases were on the increase due to excessive consumption of alcohol, tobacco fatty foods and lack of exercise, and advised on the danger of processed foods and the importance of a healthy life style.
