Okrika Honours Jonathan, Wife …Mother -In-Law For Burial, Today
The burial obsequies of foster mother to the First Lady, Mrs Charity Fyneface Oba snowballed into a civic reception by the Okrika people yesterday for their son in-law, President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan.
President Jonathan who was in the state to attend the burial of his mother in-law flew in around 3pm yesterday at Port Harcourt International Airport and shortly after being received by Governor Chibuike Amaechi who boarded the same helicopter with the President and his Bayelsa State counterpart, Seriake Dickson in company of other top government functionaries to Okrika Town.
With the helicopter, the President was able to beat the swirling traffic buildup along the East -West Road to Okrika main town which was filled with dignitaries.
Okrika Town went agog when the President and the dignitaries touched down and headed straight to the town square.
It was there the tone of the burial changed with a huge reception for the first family. The Amadabo of Ogoloma, HRH Emmanuel Obudibo (IkwoV) conferred the President with the highest title of the land’ ‘Se Lolia1’ of Okrika, meaning the Moon of the nation.
The first lady was also conferred with the a chieftaincy title of ‘Se Yingibo 1’ -mother of the nation.
The Okrika traditional ruler said both the President and his wife have brought fame and light into the kingdom and prayed God to lift them higher.
In his speech, President Jonathan said his transformation agenda was on course, as he called on all Nigerians to support in making the country a great nation.
The remains of Mrs. Fyneface Oba are billed to be laid to rest today and the President is expected to witness the burial rites before returning to Abuja.
