The winner of the
disputed Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), presidential election, Mr Eradiri Udengs, has promised to be proactive in redirecting the energies and values of the youths to achieve the objective of the organisation.
Udengs who stated this last week in an interview with aiport correspondents shortly before his departure to Abuja, said the IYC under his leadership would be re-invigorated and reorganised as a responsible body.
He noted that IYC was a movement that must be respected and not for law breakers, stressing that elections have been concluded and the leadership hopes to invite some of the aspirants who are serious minded to chart a way forward.
According to him, “we have serious issues like the National Dialogue and the reelection of  Goodluck Jonathan to contend with and not to put barricades on the road to inconvenience road users”.
Udengs said one of the presidential aspirants destroyed the ballot boxes and that led to the cancellation of the election and its rescheduling for the following day.
“Election is not about making trouble they never planned to win,  I campaigned extensively to justify my winning and nobody can declare himself elected except the electoral body and in this case I was duly elected by majority of the electorate”, Udengs declared.
He condemned the attitude of those he said are fomenting trouble, when the Ijaw nation is mourning the death of their national president, late Senator Tari Sekibo.
The IYC president said the organisation supports Jonathan’s bid for 2015 presidential election assuring that efforts would be made to reach out to other ethnic nationalities to realise the objective.
On allegation of support from Bayelsa State governemt, Eradiri observed that no government will want an IYC leadership that will be causing crisis rather government will prefer someone that can add value to the lives of the people.
