Minister Tasks Institute On Quality Lab Data
The Supervising Minister
of Science and technology, Mrs Omobola Johnson had tasked members of Nigerian Institute of Science laboratory technology (NISLT) to uphold ethnical professional standards capable of creating laboratory data that are likely to enhance policy decisions and development.
She said this at the 29th Annual National Conference/Science Workshop of NISLT IIorin on Tuesday.
Johnson, noted that NISLT could generate some data that are acceptable and applicable for policy decisions and development.
According to her, the attention of the government had been directed toward making research findings from laboratories that are relevant and accessible for national development.
The Minister also charged the body to avail itself of the modern laboratory techniques and up-to-date changes instrumentation.
The Tide source in Niger State, gathered that the Federal Government was rehabilitating and equipping institutional laboratories in a bid to making them produce equipment that are abound in the country’s teaching and research institutions.
She further warned against producing data that may have negative effect on the economy and development of the country, adding that all hands must be on deck to take the nation to the next level.
Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin, Prof. Abudulganiyu Ambali, tasked stakeholders on the need to redouble their efforts in the area of Science and technology development.
In the same vein, he stressed that the academia owe the people and the government a lot in science and technology issues, while calling on them to put in their best and revive the technological system of the nation.
Meanwhile, he has called on the federal government to provide enough funds that would aid the scientific development of the country, in order to attract a meaningful growth of the economy.
