Mgbolu Blasts NFF Over Keshi’s Salary Arrears

Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) media officer, Austin Mgbolu, has urged the body to demonstrate prudence in managing funds meant for the administration of football in the country.
Mgbolu told newsmen in Lagos that Coach Stephen Keshi’s salary arrears would not have accumulated if the funds available had been well managed.
“If they (officials) imbibe the concept of prudent management of resources, they would not be in a position to be indebted to their coach.
“It is a sad thing which has made Nigeria a laughing stock before the global community.
“I was listening, the other day, to the analysis of Super Sports that is based in South Africa where they were describing the entire thing as unthinkable and unacceptable.
“We don’t need outsiders to tell us that it is not the norm.
“For a worker to work and is not paid is not only against every ethic but it’s unacceptable. Was Keshi’s salary not integrated in their yearly budget? It ought to be there.”
Mgbolu also harped on the need for the NFF to come up with viable marketing strategies that could expand its revenue base.
“It simply shows that the NFF has not been able to extend its revenue base. Simple. It has to do with marketing, aggressive marketing.
“The truth is that they (Officials) have depended all this while on government’s subvention and the accruals from the private sectors have not been able to augment what they need to actually meet up their need.
“The private sector has not been cooperating apparently because of the negative aura that is being circulated around the football house.
“It is high time all cooperated and worked together to maximise the glory football has brought to this nation.”
