House Committee Presents Report On Boundry Dispute
The Committee on Land, Housing and Survey of the Oyo State House of Assembly on Thursday presented the report on the boundry dispute between Ijio and Moriwi/Iwoye Communities.
Chairman of the committee which investigated the boundary dispute, Hon. Wahab Oladejo representing Ido Constituency, presented the report during the plenary session.
The Ijio Community is in Iwajowa Local Government Area of Oyo State, while Moriwi/Iwoye is in Imeko Afan Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Oladepo urged the House to adopt the committee’s recommendation that the deputy governors of Oyo and Ogun States should ensure speedy constitution of a joint body on the issue.
He also urged the deputy governors as the chairmen of the state technical committees on boundary matters in their respective states, to liaise with the chairmen and traditional rulers of the feuding communities.
“The chairmen and traditional rulers should prevail on their subjects to maintain the status quo in their territories pending the determination of the matter by the joint committee to be set up”, he said.
Deliberating on the report, some of the lawmakers observed that some critical areas that should form part of the report were missing.
Notwithstanding, the decision to adopt the report, Speaker of the House Monsurate Sunmonu ruled that it should be re-written and re-submitted to the House.
