The National Chairman of the association, Dr Innocent Masi who said this in a press briefing in Port Harcourt expressed the association’s delight over the nomination of Chief Bassey Dan Abia as the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).
Masi described the NDDC Managing Director designate as a man of immense experience who will surely move the commission forward as far as the development of the region is concerned.
In his words: “The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as an interventionist agency, should be left in the hands of experts to implement its master plan.
“Dan-Abia, a man who on several occasions fought corruption, would actualise and fast track the development of the region.
“Dan-Abia’s appointment is a step in the right direction for the development of the Niger Delta”, he said.
He advised the new NDDC Board to place priority on the development of the Orashi region which is the highest producer of oil and gas in the country, pointing out that the region deserved the best in terms of human and infrastructural development from the commission.
