Great Sinya Condemns Vulgarity In Music …Publishs Book On Self Protection
Highlife music maestro,
Vincent Honest Sinya Will-Braide JP, popularly known as the great Sinya in the Nigerian Entertainment Clan has observed that some of the so called modern musicians in the country lack focus, discipline and spiritual touch which is why their lyrics are vulgar, gibberish and promotes immorality in society by emphasizing more on women and sex.
The Bakana, Rivers State born high life king who spoke with The Tide Entertainment, recently, noted that a talented musician should sing to the glory of God not worldliness. He said a musician is not only a philosopher, but a spiritualist who should preach about Christ and the good things of nature and not moral decadence that corrupts the mind.
According to the multi instrumentalist and composer, a good musician must be creative and spiritual and the songs should not only be inspirational, but educative with acceptable societal values that would help in the development of the mind and society as a whole. He said the songs should not be necessarily gospel, but it must be sensible and inspiring to relax the mind, body and soul.
The Great Sinya who started music in the early 1960s under the tutelage of the late music legend, Hutchinson Bobmanuel who also taught late high life king, Rex Lawson, reiterated that in those days of yore, people appreciated music and the musicians themselves, because their songs were prophetic, educative, inspiring and refined and they brought honour and glory to the country while the world looked upon the musicians as role models.
The renowned living highlife legend who has over 100 albums to his credit disclosed that his latest album titled “Corruption Park and Go” is a commercial success and enjoys popular air play. He said the music preaches against corruption in high places and encourages people to fight against it with all the forces at their disposal in order to sanitise the society.
The government artiste who performed at this year’s World Food Day in Rivers State, noted that his songs preach against man’s inhumanity to man, stressing that corruption is a sin against God and man. He therefore suggested that the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration should leave no stone unturned in order to ensure that corruption is totally eradicated in the country.
Great Sinya also spoke about his new book titled 24 laws of self protection against secret assassins and ritual murder” which he said every body should read as it provides all you need to know about self protection and spiritual upliftment, while Rt. Ven. B.A Mabadaje (PhD) in his foreword to the book, noted that “those that will read this book may come to appreciate the usefulness and realisation of self defence”.
