FG To Import Petroleum Products From Niger

ler, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Kano zone, Sayyadi Suleiman Abubakar has said that the Federal Government has concluded plans to import refined petroleum products from Zinder Refinery in Niger Republic.
He made the disclosure last Wednesday during the yearly petroleum products markets meeting in Kano.
Abubakar, said that the note was to end the current shortage in the supply or petroleum products due to the recent fire outbreak in Port Harcourt refinery.
But Nigerians are not comfortable with the development, saying that countries like Niger Republic ought to be the one importing products from Nigeria.
According to some people who spoke with our reporter in Port Harcourt, they pointed out that Nigeria should for once defend herself as the giant of Africa.
In her view, Loveth Okoro, said that the have to import refined petroleum products from Niger will at as clog in the wheels from the country’s economy.
She suggested remodeling of all refineries in the country as a way out, adding that those authority should stop the move.
Meanwhile, the DPR boss, has hinted that oil dealers are already waiting for the first delivery, which he said they suggested to be trucked through the nation’s border to guarantee steady supply.
He also lauded the Federal Government on account of steady supply of petroleum products as well as sanity in the oil sector.
Abubakar, further called on petroleum marketers to shun the act of cheating by adjusting their pumps and metres, but should think on how best to complement the efforts of the Federal Government.
