The National
Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) branch, has suspended the strike action embarked upon by members of the union.
In an exclusive interview with The Tide, the Chairman of NARD at the UPTH, Dr. Dan Jumbo said the strike action was suspended in the overall interest of the public.
He said members of the union took into consideration the suffering and condition of the less privilege masses seeking medical attentions which was not forthcoming  in view of the strike action.
Dan Jumbo said the strike action was merely suspended rather than being called-off by the union to give the Federal Government and the leadership of the union.sufficient time for a fruitful dialogue and come out with an enduring solution to the issues raised by the union.
The union leader said services provided at the various Teaching Hospitals should be Information Technology (IT) driven where members of the public seeking medical attention can get efficient and effective service without unnecessary delay.
He said plastic computerise card should replace the hand written card to save cost and time of the patients.
He reiterated that the suspension of the industrial strike action will afford the Federal Government the  opportunity to immediately address  the union demands.
