Bribery Allegation: NFF Bans Adepoju, Others
The Nigeria Football
Federation has handed another round of 10-year ban from all football related activities to officials and other individuals indicted by its investigative committee.
In a communique issued by NFF’s spokesperson Ademola Olajire, disclosed that an emergency committee of the Nigeria Football Federation had upheld the sanctions imposed on Leye Adepoju, Lam Adesina and Chidi Okenwa, by an investigative panel headed by Chris Green.
The emergency committee upheld the recommendation of the investigative committee to issue a ten year ban from all football related activity, Leye Adepoju, after the suspended chairman of NFF’s Disciplinary Committee was found guilty in a bribery allegation levelled against him.
Olajire also disclosed that former Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Dapo Lam-Adesina, was also given a 10-year ban.
The emergency committee also upheld the recommendation of the investigative committee into an allegation of impersonation against the Chairman of Enugu State Football Association, Chidi Okenwa.
Olajire disclosed that Okenwa’s case has been referred to the Inspector-General of Police, and that the Enugu State FA boss has been relieved of his position pending the conclusion of investigation.
According to section 14.2 of the NFF statutes, all bans announced by NFF would still need to be ratified by a three-quarter majority vote at its Annual General Assembly which will hold in Delta State this weekend.
