Assasins Kill Poly Staff In Bayelsa

Suspected Assassins have killed a staff of Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe in Southern Ijaw Local Governemnt Area of Bayelsa State.

The 35-year-old staffer, who was said to be a cousin of the Special Adviser to the President on Research and Documentation, Mr Oronto Douglas was shot dead at Agudama area of Yenegoa last Friday night.

The deceased, who hails from Okiki in Ogbia Local Governmet Area of Bayelsa was until his death the financial secretary of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU).

Eyewitness account said the deceased was killed a few metres to his house, as he was returning from where he had gone to jubilate with soccer loving Nigerians.

The gunmen were said to have hidden in an uncompleted building from where they shot him to death.

The state police commissioner, Mr. Hilary Okpara, who spoke with our source said a female suspect had been arrested.
