Architects Blame Buildings’ Defects On Plumbing

tute of Architect, (NIA), Rivers State chapter, says, 80 per cent of defects in buildings come from plumbing while 90 per cent of plumbing problems are as a result of inferior materials.
The state chapter chairman of the institute, Architect Dike Emmanuel, who disclosed this in Port Harcourt, during the launching of Rifeng pipes said that the ugly situation has underscored the need for paradigm shift in the use of plumbing materials by builders and other professionals in the building industry.
Emmanuel said that the institute has come to the realization that Rifeng products are not only corrosion proof, but offer advantages that are second to none.
“Nigeria institute of Architects in Rivers State, has been a long time partnership with Rifeng. We have seen their product and their product is sustainable”, he said.
He also commended the company for choosing Port Harcourt to launch its product noting that with the development, the problem of leakages in building will be a thing of the past.
General Manager of Rifeng Industries Limited, Mr Tokunbo Adeosun, said that many plumbing problems occurred due to the use of substandard materials for water supply which give way easily because the supply lines are usually under pressure.
“Any serious-minded developer should be aware of the embarrasing leakages that even new buildings are prone to on account of this problem”.
