Amaechi Tasks Christians On Prayer

The Rivers State Governor,
Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has urged Christians in the state to continue to pray for the success of the Administration.
The Governor who said this at the 10th anniversary  celebration of the Consecration /Enthronement of the Bishop of the Diocese of Okrika said that the present situation of the state required the continuous prayers of Christians and other religious groups.
The Governor who was represented by the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker said that the administration would continue to rule with the fear of God for the good of every one in the state.
He commended the Diocese of Okrika Anglican Communion for blazing the trail in the campaign for the propagation of the gospel in the catchment areas, saying this has led to peaceful co-existence among the people.
Also speaking, the Senator representing Rivers West  Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, Senator George Thompson Sekibo said that the Diocese had continued to distinguish itself as a beacon of peace and development in Okrika.
Senator Sekibo particularly thanked the Diocese for standing behind him during the recent kidnap of his wife, noting that with their continuous prayers, his wife was released within the shortest possible time by her abductors.
The Senator also advised the youths of Okrika to refrain  from anti-social activities and stressed the need for peace.
He, however, urged other churches in the area to emulate the Diocese of Okrika by also preaching peace.
In his sermon entitled” The ever faithful God” the Bishop Diocese of Northern Izon attributed the prevailing peace in Okrika to the faithfulness of God .
The Cleric also called on the people of Okrika to sink their differences and work together for the peace and development of the Okrika nation.
He also urged those still practicising idolatory to stop forthwith and repent as God is ready to forgive anyone who comes to him.
Highpoint of the event, was the cutting of the 10th anniversary cake.
