South East Senatorial District, Senator Magnus Abe, says those critising Rivers State Governor Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for querying the sudden disappearance of money accruing from the disputed Soku oil wells are betraying the people of the state.
Amaechi had a few months ago alerted on the disappearance of money accruing from the disputed Soku oil wells contrary to the agreement by both Rivers and Bayelsa State governments that the money be kept in a special account pending the determination of the discrepancies in records observed during the administration of former Governor, Dr. Peter Odili.
Descrbing such critics as enemies of the state, Senator Abe who is currently the chairman of Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream) said “Amaechi is being persecuted for his fearless and bold leadership in the defence of Rivers State”.
Abe expressed surprise that those who claimed to be true Rivers persons could not see any good in Governor Amaechi defending the resources of the state, but rather chose to join those persecuting him.
He urged the people of Andoni to know the truth before being convinced in taking sides.
Senator Abe later presented wrappers to Andoni women, assuring that the on-going mega water project at Unyeada and Ataba would be completed soon.
Earlier, the chairman of Andoni Local Government Area, Hon. Orom Nte-Ereforokuma thanked the senator for his unparalleled representation of the people in the National Assembly, assuring him that the people of Andoni would continue to support Governor Amaechi’s government.
