2014 W/Cup Play-Off: FIFA Gives Egypt Clean Bill

Egypt have been cleared
by FIFA to host their World Cup play-off match against Ghana in Cairo despite concerns by their opponents they would not be safe in the wake of recent unrest.
World football’s governing body have told the two countries the second leg of their tie can be played on the Egyptian capital despite Ghana expressing fear for the safety of their players.
The Ghana Football Association had urged FIFA to find “a safe and secure venue” in a neutral territory for the November 19 return leg.
But FIFA on Wednesday confirmed Cairo as the venue following a visit by a security inspection delegation and a demand Egypt provide the guarantees on the security situation, it said in a letter to both countries released to the media by the Ghana Football Association,.
FIFA added that Confederation of African Football’s decision to host the African Champions League final at Cairo’s Air Defence Stadium on November  10 shows that “the current situation in Egypt has turned back to normal”.
Egypt are to also allows fans to watch both games after banishing major matches to a small stadium in El Gouna on the Red Sea coast and away from major urban areas because of security concerns.
Ghana romped to a 6-1 win over Egypt in the first leg on October 15.
