World Post Day Holds Wednesday

Preparations are in high
gear to organise this year’s World Post Day as specified by the United Nations (UN).
The Manager, Public Relations, Port Harcourt Territory (NIPOST), Mr Godwin Akpan, said that the event will hold on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 across the world to recognise the efforts of postal services workers.
The NIPOST PRO who spoke with our reporter in Port Harcourt during the week, said that they are battle  ready to host the World Post Day in Port Harcourt.
He recalled that postal service workers are not given the needed attention judging from their contributions to the society.
Akpan noted that the current NIPOST management in the country was doing its best to ensure that its workers are given the best service even in the midst of challenges rocking the industry.
He narrated how postal service has redeemed many people from the hands of fraudulent businessmen who are only beat on profit maximisation.
He explained that NIPOST remains the trusted partner in any business transaction, while calling on the workers to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.
The NIPOST boss, insisted that it was about time the Federal Government provides the ideal working environment for NIPOST workers so as to enable them meet up with the challenges in their work terrain.
The Tide was informed that most post offices in Port Harcourt lack the modern facilities.
We also gathered that October 9, of every year, was set aside by the United Nations to celebrate post workers and to also count their pains and blessings.
