Woman Docked Over Alleged Fraud
A middle-aged-
woman has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Magistrate Court presided by Mrs C. Gomba Osara for an alleged fraud and other criminal activities.
The accused, Happiness Nwobilor is standing trial on one court charge of fraud before magistrate C.G Osara.
The police prosecutor Cpl Ihejirika Azubuike told the court that the accused on the 6th of May, 2013 at Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state in the Port Harcourt magisterial district did defraud one Adline Ejekwu (f) by obtaining the sum of N180,000 as a credit and refused to pay back the money to the owner.
He said the accused committed an offence punishable under criminal law.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty on the one court charge brought against her.
Counsel to the accused person Barrister Daniel Tamunosa told the court that the offence was a bailable offence and urged the court to use its discretion to grant her bail.
Barr Tamunosa further told the court that the accused person will not jump bail if admitted, adding that the accused has a reliable surety that would take her on bail.
In her ruling, the presiding magistrate, C. Gomba Osara admitted the accused person to bail at the sum of N180,000 with one surety, adding that the surety must have a National ID Card, Drivers Licence as well as voters card.
She further directed that the surety must swear affidavit of mean which must be verified by the police prosecutor and adjourned the matter to 2/12/2013.
