Senator Plans Expansion Of Medical Outreach

ing Rivers East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator George Sekibo says plans are underway to establish a mobile clinic that would take sustainable health care to the rural areas. Senator Sekibo disclosed this when journalists from Rivers East Senatorial District led by its interim chairman, Mr Wariso Wariso paid him a courtesy visit in Port Harcourt, Saturday.
The Senator who is the chairman, Senate Committee on Defence and Army said the move was to expand the scope of his medical outreach and more people have access to free medical care.
According to him, when the mobile clinic becomes operational it will get to all the eight local government areas that make up the Rivers East Senatorial district and beyond adding that the clinics will be provided with drugs and manned by reputable medical professionals.
The lawmaker also explained that the free medical health care programme recently carried out in all eight local government areas handled over 170 surgical operations free of charge  while over 5,000 patients benefited from the exercise.
He urged members of the group to continue to spot- light the contituency in a good light and ensure that those entrusted with governance are accountable to the people.
Earlier, the leader of the group, Mr. Wariso Wariso commended the senator for what he called as effective representation at the National Assembly and assured of their continuous support and loyalty to enable him succeed on his mandate Wariso also wants the senator to assist journalists  in the senatorial district with a bus, laptops and recorders for more effective performance of the duties.
