RSHA Staff Extol Harry’s Leadership Qualities
Staff of the Rivers State
House of Assembly (RSHA) have extolled the qualities of late former Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry, recalling his days as Deputy Speaker with nostalgia.
Leading a delegation of the management staff of the House on a condolence visit to the wife and family of the deceased, Clerk of the House, Sir Emmanuel Ogele reminisced the good qualities of the late former speaker.
According to the Clerk, the deceased positively touched the lives of Assembly staff one way or another both in his eight years reign as Deputy Speaker and four years as Speaker.
“He touched the lives of most of us positively, of course, and also made a lot of improvement in the Assembly. We’re happy to note that during his reign (as speaker), he made a lot of developments.
“He is a man who was prone to legislations aimed at improving the lives of the ordinary man. I vividly remember that it was in his tenure that the bill on child rights law was passed.
“It was also during his tenure that a bill was passed to check kidnapping and sundry crimes in the state. When you consider what kidnapping has become today, you cannot help but imagine that our boss Tonye Harry saw tomorrow”, he said.
Sir Ogele further explained the extent to which Rt. Hon. Harry went to ensure peace among members of the Assembly and staff in general, noting that this was his characteristic way of ensuring that the welfare of all was important in order to attract the necessary output from staff towards building a better Rivers State.
While urging the family to take heart over the loss, he charged them to always note that the deceased had left a legacy worthy of emulation which should serve as a guide to them.
He urged them to always live above board by building from where he stopped.
