LMC Harps On Better 2014 League Season
Executive Secretary
of the League Management Company (LMC), Tunji Babalola, has called on stakeholders in the Globacom Premier League (GPL) to close ranks for a better 2013/2014 league season.
Babalola made the remark in a telephone interview with newsmen in Lagos.
He added that through such collaboration, the upcoming season would be a better packaged and fluid programme.
The GPL 2012/2013 season was concluded on October 20 in all venues across the nation, with Kano Pillars FC emerging as the undisputed winner of the league.
“For the coming season to be better than the 2012/2013 season, we need the combined support of every stakeholder.
“In terms of security and undue postponement of matches, everyone needs to embrace transparency in the coming season and this will help improve the league,’’ Babalola said.
With regard to punctuality, the secretary of the LMC said that the body tried its utmost best to end the league on schedule, but could not, due to unforeseen circumstances.
He assured that the LMC would ensure a strict adherence to the league’s fixtures in the upcoming season.
“I must say that we tried our best to end the league in a good and timely manner; the league winners and relegated clubs were known on the last day.
“That goes to tell you that the LMC had put in some notable changes in the calendar, but this coming season will definitely be better,’’ Babalola said.
The 2013/2014 GPL season would kick-off on November 22.
