‘Lar Unrepentant Supporter Of PDP, Jonathan’
A former governor of
Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo, has expressed shock over the death of Chief Solomon Lar, the first National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his reaction, Nwobodo, who spoke with newsmen in Enugu yesterday, described Lar as “an astute politician, courageous, humble and a good Christian.
“Solomon Lar loved the PDP. He was an unrepentant supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan and the party. “He would have been extremely useful now that the party is undergoing crisis and do everything possible to bring it together. “He was a colleague, friend and brother. I spoke to him three weeks ago on his sick bed and I was sure he would be back. I am short of words to describe his death,” he said.
Nwobodo, who was also Lar’s contemporary as governors between 1979 and 1983, prayed God to give his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Similarly, Rep. Bitrus Kaze (PDP Plateau), said: “we have lost a great leader, a loving father, a true emancipator and an astute politician.
“I join millions on Nigerians to mourn very painfully Lar’s demise. This is coming at a time the PDP, and indeed, the country itself is bedeviled with multifaceted crisis.
“The pioneer PDP chairman left when his services are needed most. Nigeria will miss his reconciliatory and stabilising acumen,” Kaze said.
