ICC/ACA Coaching Course Throws Up 13yr Old Talent

A 13-year-old
discovered during the ICC/ACA Level 1 coaching course which ended in Ilorin last week, would invited to the national cricket team.
The facilitator of the cricket course, Olisa Egwuatu, said Abdulkadir from Odo Okun Secondary School, Ilorin West Local Government Area, was identified during one of the practical sessions of the level 1 coaching course.
Egwuatu, who spoke at the closing ceremony, said the event offered opportunity to teach the participants the rudiments of the sport.
The national team coach appealed to the National Sports Commission (NSC) to include cricket as one of the scoring events in the next National Sports Festival.
In a remark, the NSC Zone 2 Coordinator, Alhaji Bode Durotoye, expressed happiness that the national cricket team had been accorded international recognition.
He thanked the instructor for helping to discover young talents in Kwara.
In a goodwill message, Tunde Kazeem, the Director of Sports in Kwara and chairman, Nigeria Directors of Sports Forum, said the state would be ready to host the level 2 stage of the programme.
He called on participants not to end their search for knowledge with the just-concluded level one course, saying they should sustain the growth of the sport in the country.
The event, hosted by the Nigeria Cricket Federation, drew participants from Kwara, Imo, Enugu, Ogun, Kano, Kebbi and Rivers.
Others are Abia, Ebonyi, Osun, Cross River, Lagos and Akwa Ibom.
