GSM Invasion: Manager Explains NIPOST’s Relevance

Manager, Rivers Territory, Mrs Loretto Nwakwanma, has said that the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) remained relevant even at the entrance of the Global System of Mass Communication (GSM) and greater awareness of the benefit of the Internet into the country’s market.
She said this at the 139th occasion of the World Postal Day last Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
Nwakanma noted that no form of communication can actually be replaced by the other, but can be complemented with each other.
The Port Harcourt NIPOST boss rather enjoined all to access and harness the enormous opportunities inherent in the postal services.
According to her, the post remained priceless and has contributed to the economic growth of nations.
She also said that her organization has so far brought about decline in interpersonal and business correspondences, adding that new horizons are opening up.
It was learnt that the new technologies has opened new postal opportunities in the area of parcel post which is thriving with e-commerce.
She further hinted that the NIPOST was repositioning itself to be the delivery service of choice for goods that are purchased via the Internet.
Earlier, she had said that the overall idea was to make NIPOST a one-stop e-shop where a variety of services are offered.
Meanwhile, she boosted of her commitment to effective and efficient service delivery, adding that they are working hard to ensure that the citizens feel the greater impact of the post’s presence.
