FG Commissions 530 Megawatts Omotosho NIPP

The Nigeria Integrated
Power Plant Omotosho 2 Power Station in Ondo State has been officially commissioned by the Federal Government.
President Goodluck Jonathan, at the commissioning disclosed that by the end of the first quarter of 2014, 10 independent power projects would have been commissioned.
He added that the decision to privatise the power sector is in the long term gain for the nation which is aimed at expanding the economy.
Speaking earlier, Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko pleaded with the federal government to complete the new power substations in the state with their associated feeder lines to improve power generation for industrial and commercial purposes.
He promised that Ondo State will do everything to protect the power plant against vandalisation.
The 530 Megawatts Omotosho Power station Phase 2 project is the second of the 10 Nigerian Independent Power Projects (NIPP) under the management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Limited to be inaugurated.
The 10 power plants include the already inaugurated 434MW Geregu II, inaugurated on 4th October, Calabar 630MW, Egbema 378MW, Ihorvbor 504MW and Gbarain 252MW.
Others are Sapele 504MW, Omoku 252MW, Alaoji 1076MW, and Olorunsogo 750MW.
