An Abuja Grade 2
Area Court in Kado on Monday ordered one Sunday Ajibola to be remanded in prison custody over alleged criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The Presiding Judge, Alhaji Ahmed Ado, ordered that Ajibola, 33, of Sokale Community, Dutse Alhaji, Abuja, be remanded in prison until December 9.
Ado gave the order when the accused failed to meet the bail conditions given by the court.
The judge had admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 10 and the other must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.
But by 1 p.m. when the court rose from its sitting, the accused had yet to perfect the bail conditions.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Simon Ibrahim, told the court that one Owolabi Dare of Jabi, Abuja, reported the case at the Utako Police Station, Abuja on August 11.
Ibrahim said that the complainant entrusted N195,000 to the accused to construct kitchen cabinet and a wardrobe in his house at Kabusa Village in Abuja.
He also said that the accused stole some of the complainant’s house fittings whose value had yet to be determined.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provision of sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
If convicted, Ajibola is liable to imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years or with fine or with both.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
