Court Remands Man’ 28, For Alleged Armed Robbery

An Ota Magistrates’
Court in Ogun on Thursday remanded a 28-year-old man, Alidu Kareem, in prison custody over alleged armed robberty.
The Magistrate, Adenariwo Soneye, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Prosecutions (DPP) on the matter.
The accused, who lives at No.18, Adeoye St., Sango-Ota, is being tried for armed robbery and conspiracy.
Kareem, however, entered a plea of not guilty.
Earlier, the prosecutor, CPL Brown Rosemary, had told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on September 15 at 2.30am.
She said the offences were committed at No. 3, Taiwo Estate, Akinbo-Akute, Ota.
Rosemary alleged the Kareem and his colleagues, who were armed with guns and cutlasses. robbed one Mr. Matthew Olaoluwa of N80,000, four laptops, mobile phones and some documents, all valued at N510,000.
The offences contravened Sections 1(2), (a) and 6(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Act, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
The case was adjourned to November 13 for mention.
