APGA Lauds Obi On Good Governance
The National Chairman of
All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Victor Umeh has commended the Governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi on good governance, for sustaining the momentium in governance as his administration with few weeks left in his tenure.
Umeh said that in other climes, his party could have diverted the over N50 billion mapped out by the Governor for the final push on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Anambra State as he prepares to leave office.
Reviewing the activities of the Governor at the exit point of his administration, Umeh concluded that no other governor “will splash money this way towards the end of his tenure”, and listed the various sums of money the governor is spending to strengthen MDGs and achieve its goals as he prepares to leave office.
Noting that the governor will spend over N50 billion before the end of this year, Umeh noted that “No other government has been able to have this kind of programme even when it mattered most. This is to show you that the way APGA government started here is the way it is finishing.
“There is no slow down in any sector. This is the time for politics. If we are interested in buying votes with just N1.5 billion our party would be in the streets. The party can’t be campaigning again if we are used to buying votes, but our government is used to serving people”, he said.
Continuing, Umeh stated: “Our government is more interested in delivering the common good. It is for the people of Anambra state to reciprocate this gesture.
This is the way we can make a return so that they can get sustained development as they are getting now”.
Umeh said it is not about politics of propaganda, about people coming to say all sorts of things and share money, emphasising that ‘this election is not about money. It is about what you can do for the people.
