2014 Orange CHAN: CAF Releases Guidelines
The Orange CHAN South Africa 2014 is set to produce one of the most entertaining tournaments ever seen in the history of African football. This came to light after the valuable and informative Orange CHAN South Africa 2014 Team Workshop, which was successfully conducted by CAF and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) in Johannesburg.
Culminating from a series of back to back events leading up to 100 days before kick-off, the workshop was used to provide essential guidelines and tools for the teams participating in the third edition of the competition designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues. The event went into the finer details of what will be required of the teams, while at the same time informed them of what will be made available to them throughout their stay in the country.
The workshop dealt with important team related aspects including training venues, accommodation, travelling arrangements, security guidelines and other imperative information geared towards the organization of a successful tournament.
“This is one of the most important aspects of our preparations. The teams are what make the tournament a success. We cannot focus so much on the planning of the event and forget what actually draws the football loving fans to the stadiums.
“It is highly important that we have such a workshop that will assist the teams in their preparations and thus in return giving us an unforgettable and high quality football tournament,” said Mvuzo Mbebe, LOC Chief Executive Officer.
The participants, made up of representatives of the qualified teams later visited their respective host cities to inspect hotels, training facilities and stadiums.
The tournament will be held from 11 January 2014 to 1 February 2014 with Cape Town, Mangaung and Polokwane as the host cities.
