South-East Economic Summit Holds, Oct 29
The South-East Eco
nomic Summit Group says the ‘2013 Economic Summit’ of the zone will hold between October 29 and October 31.
This is contained in a statement signed by the conference’s Central Planning Committee Chairman, Chief Chris Obiefuna, in Enugu on Monday.
It said the conference entitled, “Opening the South-East Nigeria for Increased Trade and Investment’’, would create a platform for the people of the zone to interact with their leaders.
According to the statement, the conference will analyse the successes and failures in trade and investment with a view to finding a positive headway.
“The conference has earned for itself the status of an annual programme and platform for bringing the people of the South-East and their leaders together in brotherhood,’’ it stated.
The statement said the event would be declared open by the Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr Olusegun Aganga.
It said that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, and Mr Uche Orji, Chief Executive Officer of the Sovereign Wealth Fund, would deliver papers at the conference.
It named Mr Arancha Gonzalez, Executive Director, International Trade Centre, Switzerland; Dr Alex Otti, Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Bank Plc; and Emeka Nwawka, Managing director/Chief Executive Officer, Orient Petroleum as other speakers.
The 2013 conference would be the third since 2011 when it was first organised as a project of the governments and people of the zone.
