Coach Gbenga
Ogunbote of Sharks FC of Port Harcourt, has said that the battle to survive relegation in the ongoing Globacom Premier League would definitely be towards the end of the 2012/2013 season.

Ogunbote disclosed this to the newsmen after his team lost 0-1 to hosts, Sunshine Stars of Akure, in week 33 of the league on Sunday at the Akure Township Stadium.

“Our match against Sunshine was good, but the battle for relegation would be till the last day of the league.

“We are working hard to finish the season on a higher note and no team is safe yet from relegation,” Ogunbote said.

Sunshine Stars had risen to their best position in the league this season, due to its 1-0 win over Sharks.

They are placed seventh with 47 points from 33 matches, while Sharks are 13th with 44 points from same number of matches, with five matches to go.

Ogunbote who, however, blamed his club’s loss to Sunshine on carelessness, assured that his club would survive relegation’s mucky waters.

The coach, a former handler of Sunshine Stars, added that he was happy his team was not disgraced in Akure.

“It was a good game; it is the dream of every player or coach to play well against his former team.

“We were not disgraced; we lost the game to a careless moment,’’ he said.

Sunshine Stars next game would be away on Wednesday against Heartland FC of Owerri, while Sharks would be playing at home against El Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, also on Wednesday.
