SGF Inaugurates FRSC Board Members
The Secretary to the Gov
ernment of the Federation (SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, recently inaugurated a nine-member board for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
Anyim durng the inauguration charged the members to contribute their quota to the realisation of the mandate of the commission, which he described as an important government agency.
“This appointment is yet another opportunity for you to continue to contribute more particularly to the realisation of the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
“The FRSC is highly regarded as an agency alive to its responsibilities.
“The commission has significantly increased safety consciousness among Nigerian road users.
“You must strive to maintain this rating and in fact improve on it; Mr President and indeed Nigerians expect no less from you,’’ he said.
Responding, the Chairman of the Board, Mr Felix Chukwu, pledged their support for the agenda, especially in the area of ensuring safer road for motorists.
“It is our vowed determination to support, drive and give unalloyed loyalty to the tenets of Mr President transformation agenda, especially with regard to safety on our roads,’’ he said.
Other members of the board are Mr Jackie Umoru, Alhaji Ahmadu Gambo, Mrs Maryam Gwaram, Dr Aminu Bello, Sen. Dahiru Gassol, Mr Emmanuel Egwu, Mr Yinka Taiwo and Chief Osita Chidoka, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC.
Meanwhile, the FRSC corps marshal has confirmed that the State Joint Tax Boards extended the deadline to motorists to migrate to the new number plates and new driver’s licence.
“They (joint boards) are the body that set up the deadline; seeing the challenges that Nigerians are facing, they have decided to graciously extend it (deadline) to June 30, 2014.”
Chidoka urged motorists to use the period to migrate to the new plates and obtain the new document.
