RSG Hails Church Over Road Construction

The Rivers State Gov
ernment has commended members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), City of Joy, Zonal Area Headquarters, Province Two, Port Harcourt for single-handedly executing a road project in the area.
The Commissioner for Works,  Hon Victor Giadom made the commendation during the commissioning of the Road Project at Holiness Close, Off Rumuogholu Road in Port Harcourt, last Friday.
Giadom, who was represented by Engr Batein Ogariawo said the project was a challenge to other churches as apart from its spiritual function, it deemed it fit and necessary to also touch the lives of the people in the area physically, saying “It is rare,” and called on others to emulate.
He said the project would in no small measure relieve government’s responsibilities to its citizenry as it cannot carryout such responsibilities alone, commending the church for a work well done.
According to him, they have done something to promote the name of God and that God must surely reward them for their support to Government, adding that the Government had also taken note of their support.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs Ibim Semenitari who was represented by a Deputy Director in the Ministry, Mrs Ibim Ebietoma expressed delight over the project that would touch the lives of the people and called on others to borrow a leaf from the church, stressing that government was very pleased with the project.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on new UST Project, Hon Vivian Braide thanked Pastor (Mrs) Geradine  Kalango for conceiving and ensuring the completion of the project as part of church’s social responsibilities to the people, describing women as achievers and thanked the church for relieving the burden of road construction for government.
In his exhortation, the Pastor in charge of Rivers Province Two of the Church, Pastor Soji Oni, who took his text from the Book of Matthew Chapter 5:13-15, said the church had brought light to the inhabitants of Holiness Close, pointing out that it was a corporate social responsibility to positively affect the community, saying, “it is the beginning of good things to come, calling for all hands to be on deck.
In their separate speeches, HRH Eze John Kinikanwo Ogbonda Weli, the Paramount Ruler of the area whose address was read by the CDC Chairman of Rumuogholu, Hon Godspower Ovunwo and the chairman, Landlords  Association, Elder Nsirim Onizor described the church as a pace-setter that had challenged other sister churches in the area, and thanked members for the project as Heaven had recorded their contribution for heavenly reward.
Earlier, in her welcome address, the Zonal Pastor of City of Joy, RCCG, Pastor Mrs Geraldine Kalango thanked all for making their dreams come true despite challenges, adding that the 1.8km interlocked road project was not only to uplift the status of the church, but also to fulfil the church’s community social responsibility, as it would affect the residents positively over accessible road.
The ceremony also featured praise and worship before the cutting of the tape by the representative of the Works Commissioner, Engr Ogariawo to declare the  road open.
