Astalwart of the Peoples Democratic (PDP) in Rivers State, Sir Nelson Wali has called on youths in Rivers State to demonstrate a deep sense of commitment towards the sustenance of good governance and transparency in democratic leadership as they are the cutting edge for change and development in the society.

Wali, a one-time chairmanship aspirant in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area gave the charge at  Rumuokwurusi when the executive of a youth based organisation, the Patriotic Youth Alert Network paid him a courtesy visit recently.

He urged the body to be vanguard of progress and change in Rivers State by supporting  the Government of Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, which has recorded giant stride in the development of the state, especially in the area of youths empowerment.

Wali, who is also a traditional ruler, described Rivers State as the ‘hotbed’ and ‘costly political bride’ in Nigerian politics and called for the peaceful resolution of the political crisis in the state.

He said the dimension of the political crisis, if not handled with caution was capable of undermining  the prospects of the state in national politics.

In his response, the chairman of the body, Mr Emmanuel Orgwu, plegded the commitment of the body to promoting  good governance in the state. He said the body was rooted in the 23 LGAs and concerned about the entrepreneurial development of youths, through ethical and moral sensitisation, and declared its total solidarity to the Amaechi  government.
