A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart from Etche ethnic nationality in Rivers  State,  High Chief Jerome Eke, has criticised the continuous existence of god fatherism in the politics of the country.
Eke who spoke with Aviation Correspondents at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, said the trend portends danger to the polity.
Jerome, who contested the national Vice Chairmanship position of the PDP in the disputed mini convention of the party, said that he would win election any time the stage was set right and does not believe in god fatherism to win election.
He, however, said election was not a do or die affair and stressed the need for politicians to take things easy, insisting that “if you did not win today, tomorrow might be their turn to win”.
Eke hinted that since he joined the PDP, he had been assisting others to win election and promised to contest subsequent electoral positions in the land.
The politician who declined to speak on the outcome of the PDP convention, however, went philosophical, “when a leader rules with the fear of God, the people rejoice therefore, when the man who fear God enters into position of trust, people would be assured of dividends of democracy”.
He enjoined the electorate to vote wisely whenever they were called upon to vote, pointing out that insincerity was detrimental to democracy and governance, especially the political party.
