Oromineke Estate: RSG Begins Verification Of Title Documents
The Rivers State Gov
ernment has begun the verification of title documents in order to ascertain real owners of property at the Oromineke Housing Estate in D/line area of Port Harcourt.
To this end, the state Ministry of Housing has directed that all property owners at the estate should present their title documents that relate to ownership of their properties to the ministry without delay.
A circular from the ministry of housing , which was signed by the permanent secretary, Mr. Felix O. Amadi said that the ministry is embarking on the exercise so as to know the true owners of the property.
The cirucular also revealed that those who refuse to present their title document to the ministry, will be regarded as impostors, and will not be tolerated by the government .
It would be recalled that the Rivers State Government through the Ministry of Housing had issued a quit notice to some residents of the Oromineke Housing Estate recently.
Government’s position, it was gathered, was to carry out its urban renewal plan through demolition of some structures in the area.
In their reaction, residents of the estate had taken the state government to court, to stop them from demolition of their homes, where they had claimed that they have no other alternative for their families to relocate to.
They had claimed also that it takes time particularly in Port Harcourt for people to secure an accommodation with their families.
Residents of the estate strongly put their feet down insisting that they were not given time to vacate the place, but the ministry had posited that it has given notices to that effect to the residents as required and that due process were followed in that respect.
