The Senator representing Rivers West Senatorial district, Senator Wilson Ake has ascribed the formation of a parallel Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the total disregard to views of other party members.
Senator Ake who spoke to Airport Correspondents, Friday, said the issues rocking the PDP is about allowing divergent opinion which is in the overall interest and growth of the party.
He noted that the action of the other members is to ensure that their opinions are heard and looked into without regard to anybody as equal party men.
Senator Ake argued that the leadership of the party was drifting from the foundation laid by the founding fathers and steps had to be taken to redirect the affairs of the party in the overall interest of all members.
He, however said reconciliatory moves are ongoing as members of the new PDP have tabled their grievances before the elders to handle because the issues have lingered for a while unattended to.
“I think it is left for the elders of party to handle the issues raised. This issues have lingered for some time and for it to have resulted into forming a parallel party, the leadership should be held responsible”, he declared.
Senator Ake who is one of the Senators in the new PDP said the interest and opinion of party members should be given consideration to make the party stronger, particularly as the nation moves closer to another election year.
